Mt. Pico De Loro adventure hike

Finally, we have made it to come to the famous mountain of Cavite! Well, this was actually the second time that they plan to climb this mountain. The first time was unfortunately something that I've missed. Anyway, did you know that Mt. Pico De Loro has the highest elevation in terms of topography at 664 meters above sea level? From the top of the summit, is the amazing view of the province of Cavite. You can also view from there the various mountains such as Palay palay mountain, Mt.Mataas na Gulod, Mt. Marami, Mt. Batulao and Mt. Talamitam.

We actually arrived at the site of DENR at 1pm where we park the car and where we eat lunch as well. The parking fee is Php 50, by the way. Not bad since we've stayed at the mountain for 1 night. At exactly 2pm, we have started to take our journey. It was a cloudy day and I'm actually a bit nervous that we might get wet if the rain pour during our climb. I'll be also afraid since the trail has many assault and it'll be very dangerous since the soil is wet. Fortunately, the weather had been good to us and haven't shown any raindrops. Thank God! By the way, you have to note that there is an entrance fee amounting to Php 25 at the first campsite where you need to register your name.
Jump Off from the DENR site
I actually find the first two hours of walking on the trail as quite easy. But while we are getting near to that so called "Assault", I am quite getting close to quitting the journey, with all the baggage that I carry; the tent, foods, along with my backpack, you'll really experience the pain brought by these baggage.(I remember the words of encouragement that I once heard during our take off from the summit and I quote the man saying "Kayanin mo, kasi pag hindi, hindi ka makakauwi" He's right, right?! :)) Giving up shouldn't really be an option to this journey in the first place, since I've joined and should anticipate this pain and exhaustion already.

After four hours of walking, we finally made it to the campsite. We arrived at exactly 6:15pm. We haven't had the chance to see the sunset because the sun is hiding in the east from where we are located. So, we started to build our tents and eat our dinner so we could rest and wait for the sun to rise. The experience is like having my first camping all over again. Well, this was actually my first time to do the overnight in a mountain, my very first camping was during my elementary days (Missin' my Girlscout days).
This was taken at the other side of the mountain
The next day started as early as 5:45 in the morning. We have started our journey to the monolith at around 7:00am. The weather is cold and the sunshine is hidden within the cloudy sky. During the climb at the first peak, I've experienced the fog. I felt like I'm above the clouds which is well almost like it. It was like Mt. Pulag with that kind of view. It takes us not more than 30 minutes in the first peak, by the way.
The foggy scene at the first peak of Mt. Pico De Loro
Amazing view after the fog
Trying hard to do some camera tricks! Ha!

It's now time for the most awaited monolith! The view below was taken from the first peak of the mountain which is from the above photo. The trail going to the monolith was a bit steep especially when you are on your way to the top where you will have to use a rope to climb the breathtaking cliff of the mountain. It was just actually a 2-3 minutes climb if you've a really brave and steady knees. :)

Of course, I wouldn't let this experience pass by without having and taking my weirdo tumbling shot! Ha! I should practice more for a perfect shot and without having to lean on the rocks though!

And of course, the exciting jump shot shouldn't be forgotten here!

It's now time to go home for us! Bye, bye Pico! Will definitely see you next time!
Pababa na kami ng monolith :(
The last four hours of walking from the camp site going to the DENR was memorable. This is because after leaving the first camp, heavy rain pours down. Good thing that some of us brought rain coat to protect our gadgets and also some of our baggage. Because of this, the trail becomes slippery and more dangerous to take. We haven't had the chance to see the falls though. After almost another 4 hours of walking, we finally reach our final destination which is the bathroom of the DENR where we already take a bath and clean our selves from all the sticky feeling that we had from climbing to going down the mountain. It was really an exciting and amazing feeling and I'll surely climb it again if I'll have another chance! By the way, I'm a novice in mountaineering and actually see some kids climbing the mountain. So. there's no excuses for you to not climb it!
After the adventure, it's time to go home!
Just want to end this with an inspiring quote from Barry Finlay saying, Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.  SOAR HIGH! ;)

What's with the Cajun Fish 'n Rice of Pizza Hut Ala Carte Menu?

So, it was that time of the day when I feel so alone and just want to satisfy my craving to perhaps overcome this depression. I really don't know what brings me in that food chain. At first, I am thinking of ordering a carbonara which is one of my ever favorite pasta recipe. But then, upon exploring Pizza Hut's menu, I didn't realized that I've ordered Cajun Fish 'n Rice. Maybe, because of the food presentation on the menu that has caught my attention. Forgot to mention that I've checked-in at SM Masinag, Pizza Hut. :)

Actual Cajun Fish 'n Rice of Pizza Hut at Php 149
I have waited for 10-15 minutes before my order was given. Upon seeing the meal, I was quite not impressed on what I've seen. The picture was really deceiving. I thought that it was somewhat toasted but it was like half cooked fish inside. I don't know or have no idea though if what a Cajun fish 'n rice should look or taste as it was my first time tasting this kind of meal. I'm giving it a 3/5 star because it somewhat satisfied my hunger but not actually my craving :) I should have ordered Carbonara over that Fishrice. :(
The receipt and a certain code(which you will get after completing the survey) is needed once you want to claim the FREE banana split

After eating and paying the bill, the crew gave me the receipt and inform me that I can claim a FREE banana split on my second visit at any Pizza Hut branches once I completed their survey on their website, www.pizzahutfeedback.com.ph. Hopefully, I can visit the food chain so I can claim my Free dessert before my voucher expires!
I received this along with the Pizza Hut receipt

Round Trip to Manila, Philippines - First Time Visit with No Traffic!

Manila, Philippines was once a very busy place before, mainly because of the extreme traffic that you have to deal with in everyday transportation. However, just recently, I was shocked or should I say amazed to see the main road of the city without a trace of traffic in the roadways. How did it happen? Well, it is basically because of the new traffic scheme which Mayor Joseph 'ERAP' Estrada and his alliance that have implemented. This scheme has got more compliments and give a bit of problem with the commuters though. Even so, one thing is for sure, that this rule will obviously the start of improvement of the city!

Okay! Enough of the traffic issues now. The issue stated above was just one of the many things I had encountered during my trip to Manila. This trip wasn't supposedly planned, but because it was the last stay of my very close friend in the Philippines, we choose to accompany her in one of her favorite hangout place. She actually have a flight to United States, so the trip was just a short time.

The first stop was at the hotel where she is staying. We visited her at Eurotel, Pedro Gil. The hotel is located in front of Robinson's Place Manila. The hotel staffs were all friendly and very accommodating. And also the main reason why she choose this hotel was mainly because Manila International Airport is just an easy access to the hotel.

The next stop was at the Quiapo Church, where you can find the miraculous Black Nazarene. There were lots of people coming everyday from different cities hoping that their prayers will be heard by the miraculous saint.

After giving a visit to the Black Narazene, we head to find a restaurant to take our lunch. We took a pedicab going to Cafe Mezzanine located in the heart of Ongpin, Binondo.

Their foods were superb and actually did give us a full tummy. By the way, I ordered baby back ribs.

The rest of my companions ordered these (Please see the photos below) from the menu.

The restaurant is located at the heart of old Chinatown, so you'll expect a lot of Chinese customers eating in there. The crews were all accommodating as well. Though, if you want a convenient place to eat in there, I suggest you to choose and dine at the second floor because it is fully air-conditioned compared to the first floor of the establishment.

After taking our brunch, we headed to the last destination which is the Binondo Church to pay a visit. The old church looks very fascinating. I did take the chance to thank the big man to all the blessings he has given me. And of course ask guidance for my family and myself. By the way, here's some snapshots of the church.

We actually had a 5 hour trip to Manila. Not bad compared to my previous experience to Divisoria which is all hassle and full of stress! I certainly would love to visit the place again. I just hope that the traffic scheme implemented by the recent government will be maintained and strictly managed.

By the way, Manila isn't a 'gates of hell!' Just how Dan Brown described it on his book. The city is obviously improving and eventually will become a better place for businesses and transportation.

MyBro Plan 999 Review - The Strongest Connection Ever?!

It was about a year ago since I updated this blog. And since this is my first update this year, I would like to have this dedicated to my internet provider. I couldn't update this blog without it, you know!

MyBro Brochure

It's actually been a month since I subscribed to MyBro plan 999, one of the promos of PLDT. It provides an unlimited wireless broadband internet connection where you can connect your laptop/computer and even your mobile devices through the provided signal of the modem. It also says in their website that you can get a speed of up to 1mbps. I'm a bit disappointed to say that I haven't got at least 1mbps of their connection. Perhaps it is because of my location having lots of trees around the house.

I've tried pinging to see how fast the connection I'm getting. However, it shows a 0. something mbps of connection. You may see the image below for reference.

Ping test result by speedtest.net

I've once tried applying for a canopy plan, however, the smart agent told me that it was impossible because due to the poor connection based on their testing device. They've told me that it is due to the many trees surrounding the house.

The image below is another tool that they provided to test the speed of my internet. The agent said that having an above 10.00 CINR is a great indication that my signal is stable. Well, I think, that convince me to subscribed on it.

WiMAX Mobile Station

Currently, I have downloaded at least four movies through the wifi connection. I think that is a great way to start this subscription. During rainy days, the connection is a little poor though.

Well, I believe, I have to patronise the service since I signed a lock-in contract with them for 24 months. I will just longer my patience in times of poor connection, I guess.
